Wychwood Closure
Posted: 18th March 2020
After the Prime Minister and Education secretary’s announcements on 18th March, Wychwood will be closing at 2.00pm on Friday 20th March until further notice.
We will set work for the girls for the week commencing Monday 23rd March until the end of the school day on Thursday 26th March and will then start again on Wednesday 22nd April, if the school is still closed. Lessons will be set in the Remote Learning Folder by 8.30am each morning for that same day. Girls should log in and work through where possible. We recognise that their time at an appropriate device may be limited as parents may also need to work using the same device and we would ask that the girls have exercise and recreation each day in addition to doing their school work.
For our public examination girls, we offer our real sympathy at this unprecedented and extraordinarily difficult time for them after the announcement that public exams will not take place in May and June this year. We will carry on with our preparation, revision and teaching of examination technique until we know more detail of how grades will be awarded to allow girls to obtain their results as per the published dates.
The school will remain open for vulnerable children and children of key workers throughout next week and the holidays except for the Easter weekend: the Cabinet Office is expected to publish its definition of ‘key worker’ on Thursday 19th March. We plan to run loose supervision in that there will be adults in school from 9.00am to 4.00pm on weekdays and girls will be welcome. We cannot offer meals and so the girls should come with packed lunches and plenty of fluids.
Decisions about activities and events during the Trinity term will be made as more information is known about when the school will reopen and any restrictions on gatherings.
We will be communicating with parents via email on a daily basis but please email any questions to admissions@wychwoodschool.org as this mailbox will be monitored throughout the school closure.
If you are a prospective parent considering sending your daughter to Wychwood, please email admissions@wychwoodschool.org and we will get back to you.
We are certainly living in interesting times and our very best wishes are with all of us that we may all stay healthy and able to work productively over the next few weeks.
Yours
Andrea
