UTs / Shell Bonding Trip to the Isle of Wight

Posted: 19th October 2021

The Shell and UTs spent last weekend on the Isle of Wight on a bonding trip. They departed on Friday for the ferry, and as soon as they arrived at the Kingswood Centre they were split into their dorms, having time to make the beds and unpack.

After that, it was straight into the activities. The Obstacle Course allowed for teamwork and communication, whilst still providing an individual challenge – themes that were to run throughout the weekend. After a supper of fish and chips, they gathered around the campfire for an hysterical evening of singing challenges.

The next day groups took part in a range of activities from the Jacobs Ladder and 3 G swing, to archery and body boarding. Again, all of these were designed to test their limits and to bring them closer as a group.

Sunday saw them zip lining and problem solving, and all too soon it was time to depart.

Everyone who came was challenged throughout the weekend and many discovered new things about themselves. The resilience shown, as well as the camaraderie and determination are lessons that can be taken back to school.

Thanks must go to the staff who accompanied the trip – Mme Boubkari, Snr Jimenez, Mrs Cooper and Mr Humphreys.
