Oxford Open Doors
Posted: 14th September 2018
Every year the Oxford Preservation Trust organizes an open door policy in the Oxford colleges and university buildings like the Sheldonian. Last Sunday a group of senior boarders enjoyed an afternoon of late summer sunshine wandering through the gardens, chapels and dining halls of several colleges with Dr Donald and Mr Siantonas. We saw medieval wall paintings in The Painted Room on Cornmarket, and the cloisters of New College that featured in the Harry Potter films. The circuitous route took four hours in all (including a brief stop for refreshments) which was rather tiring but we saw (and photographed) some amazing architecture and gardens. A taste of Oxford at its very best!
