Memorial Garden for the Great War

Planting a memorial garden for those who gave their lives in the Great war, 1914 – 1918, and subsequent wars.

Girls from across the Remove to Upper Transits bonded today over a lunchtime of planting November flowering shrubs.  The intention?  To mark the centenary of armistice day. Wychwood plans a burst of colour, along the red brick path, this and subsequent Novembers.  This is one way in which we can remember the fallen, and give thanks for the freedom that their sacrifice has afforded us.

In a week where the Thought for the Week is ‘We cannot command nature except by obeying her’ this tribute is particularly fitting.  Many thanks to Emma Bishop, our wonderful gardener, for helping this magic to happen (and for bringing on so many of the plants in the greenhouse in advance).  We are very grateful.
