“Maths in Action” Trip to University of Warwick
Posted: 10th November 2021
On Tuesday 9th November, we were privileged to experience our first mathematics trip in two years when we took our Study mathematicians to University of Warwick for a day of lectures entitled “Maths in Action”. All the speakers were highly respected women in their field, which was lovely to see in what used to be thought of as a male-dominated subject. We were wowed by these incredible women speaking on a wide range of mathematical subjects, from stocks and shares, to the mathematics of games, to aerospace engineering, to lies in newspapers and even a very useful session on examinations from an examiner herself. It was a wonderful day of inspiring mathematics, as well as the opportunity to see and experience Warwick University and its Arts centre and students’ union.
Many thanks must also go to Miss Centamore for driving us there as without her, we could not have gone!
