Lower Transits bond in Bristol

On the morning of Friday 11th October, with a whirl of excitement, the Lower Transits headed to Bristol for the now annual residential trip. We began with a guided tour of some of Bristol’s street art, learning all about the cultural background of the art and how the city at one time fought against it but now embraces and celebrates it. This was followed by a very enjoyable spray painting workshop where the girls celebrated their inner ‘Banksy’!

After an afternoon exploring the We the Curious science museum and enjoying the 3D Planetarium show, Autumn Stars, we ate at Zaza Bazaar, where we indulged in Asian, Indian, Italian, Japanese and Jamaican food. Then came a particular highlight – The Lion King at the Hippodrome. The colour and energy of the show was simply joyful.

After not quite as much sleep than was needed, on Saturday we visited the SS Great Britain. The team took on the challenge of climbing the rigging and crossing the yard arm of the trip during the Go aloft experience. Such bravery and athleticism was shown by all – special mention to Mrs Crossley and Miss Robinson who also completed the task! By the end of our fascinating guided tour, ice-cream was needed to boost energy before our final activity – a trip to the Aquarium. It was a super weekend!
