Inters Visit of Kirsty Burgess, Operational Meterologist at RAF Benson

Posted: 14th October 2019

This half term the Inters have been studying a unit of work ‘Weather and Weather Forecasting’. We were delighted to welcome Kirsty – an actual weather woman into school to talk about all aspects of her job.

She talked about how the weather is measured, and the instruments that they use, and then how they work to put a forecast together. From there she broadened out slightly to talk about the importance of knowing about the path of extreme weather, referencing Typhoon Hagibis in Japan.

This was a fascinating talk and it was interesting to see people put into life, what we have learnt in the classroom.
