Sophie in Study II represented Wychwood at the regional heat of ARTiculation at the Milton Keynes Gallery with her presentation ‘I’m an Outsider on the Inside’, a photograph of a young black boy with ‘Vote’ on his forehead taken during the march from Selma by Bruce Davidson.
The standard was extremely high and the competition stiff, sadly Sophie didn’t get through to the next round. The adjudicator, Anthony Spira, director of the gallery in his summing up commended Sophie for her confidence and clarity in giving the presentation; the depth of her subject knowledge both factual and analytical; and the truly vivid manner in which she had place the photograph in context.
Sophie will now be able to access the opportunities offered to ARTiculation alumni.
